About Me

My Background

I'm a 25-year-old man who has spent the past decade pursuing self-improvement. I started this journey at 15 with no clear direction, just a sense that I wasn't living to my fullest potential. I often struggled popularity-wise. I was nerdy, skinny, out of shape, socially awkward, unconfident, addicted to video games and the Internet, and lonely. Although I was a gifted kid and liked by teachers, this did not earn the respect of my peers in a local culture where traits like athleticism, confidence, and "coolness" were more heavily rewarded.

I took my first steps into self-improvement by getting a haircut, changing my style, lifting weights at the gym, and joining sports teams at my high school. The progress I made was slow and incremental despite my desire for fast results, but over time, the results continued to compound on itself. Every year spent on the self-improvement journey translated into improved confidence, new skillsets, new knowledge, increased respect and popularity, and a higher quality of life.

The journey was far from linear, however. Although it has been marked by an overall upward trend, I would intermittently run into burnouts, adversities, and sticking points which would test my resolve. Many of these issues would lead to plateaus or temporary regressions for extended periods of time despite my greatest effort to overcome them, followed by a major breakthrough and an explosion of progress. Throughout this process, I've tested hundreds of frameworks, built sustainable systems across multiple life domains, and accumulated enough experience to confidently say what actually works versus what just sounds good.

Ten years later, I've come a long way. Although I'm not perfect, I'm proud of the progress I've made in life. I am now close to graduating college and pursuing a graduate degree, have sculpted a respectable physique, overcame mental health challenges, built genuine confidence, gained meaningful friendships, traveled internationally, and accomplished many other things my younger self would have considered impossible. And now, I wish to share my knowledge with the world.

I hope that I can especially be of service for those of a similar background to me, or for those who have dealt with similar issues to mine and could benefit from my trial and error.

My Current Approach to Self-Improvement

Quote

"Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
Bruce Lee

My approach to self-improvement constantly evolves over time as I gather new experiences and information. Much of the general details of how I approach self-improvement are detailed in The Eclectic Improvement Philosophy, where I discuss the core pillars of my philosophy. However, this section will be dedicated to what I practice currently in my day-to-day life.

Since picking up The Law of Assumption two years ago, it has now become a mainstay of my daily routine that I practice most nights using the SATS (State Akin to Sleep) method before I fall asleep. In this state, I imagine being my ideal self, with my ideal characteristics, who already has everything that I want. I have found this beneficial on many levels: It is a relaxing nightly practice that helps me fall asleep easier, and it has led to manifestations I would consider difficult to explain via purely material means. I regularly use spiritual frameworks such as this to assist in my personal growth and expedite the results of desired outcomes.

However, during the day, I focus on realism by accepting things for how they really are, maneuvering accordingly, and taking action to make my goals a reality. In my personal life, I call this the "Duality Principle" due to how significantly different these two mindsets are. One is reliant on imagination, the other is reliant on effort.

In this current stage of my self-improvement journey, the main theme I live my life by is balance. In my journey, I have learned through experience that the most effective way to grow in life is when you budget an abundance of time and effort for rest, self-care, and reflection. Although I value hard work and enduring difficult situations as conduits for growth, it must be done in moderation and in its appropriate contexts. Some situations will call for hard work and pushing through discomfort, while others will call for working smart and developing efficient systems to get more results in less time. I decide this on a case-by-case basis.

How this works, practically, is that I tend to adopt different modes depending on the time of day or the activity I'm doing, which I will activate on and off in my mind like a light switch. Typically, the first part of my day, I will be in an extremely intense and focused state of mind where I block out distractions and attempt to get as much done as possible. If I complete all my tasks for the day and have time to relax, I will enter a state of mind where I allow myself to relax completely and enjoy entertainment with intention. When it is time to sleep, I will practice SATS and enter an imaginative state of mind where I visualize and affirm myself embodying an ideal of perfection until I fall asleep.

History of Eclectic Improvement

Eclectic Improvement originally started as a YouTube channel when I was 21 years old, influenced by the prevailing trends in men's self-improvement at the time. In mid-2022, I met fellow YouTubers ICEcold JT and Jordan Green at the YAGI Nation Meetup in Los Angeles, where I was able to share my story and discuss self-improvement with other like-minded young men. I also uploaded a video detailing my experience a few weeks after the trip. Around this time, I also started podcasting and uploaded three episodes.

However, I stopped posting content in late 2022, and took a long hiatus to prioritize my career, my education, and working on myself in silence. Throughout this time, I have learned a lot of valuable lessons and grew significantly as an individual. Due to an intuitive nudge, I decided to return to content creation in late 2025, albeit in a different format. This marked the start of the Eclectic Improvement Wiki and my pursuit of a writing-first format to explore self-improvement concepts in extensive detail. As someone who has been consistently journaling since 2018, I feel that writing comes more naturally to me than other modes of expression.
